Development of virtual product modeling system for shipbuilding: 2nd report application of concept-relationship modeling approach for 3D design stage

Many approaches have been used to provide modeling data structures and data behavior for total shipbuilding. Especially, object-oriented shipbuilding product models have achieved to some successful results. Information for one product model forshipbuilding is inevitably referenced and manipulated during each phase of design or production activities, and the information or manipulation status naturally varies from the original with the advance of each phase. We propose an approach, provisionally named the Concept-Relationship Modeling Approach, which handles data structure and behavior independently to resolve these difficulties above. We also describe an application of the Concept Relationship Modeling Approach for 3D design.
