BW Offshore is believed to have taken the lead for the FPSO for Eni's Etan project off with the firm having asked firms in Nigeria for support in detailed engineering. The FPSO contractor started the FEED on the deepwater field in OPL 245 back in January with the main rival being Bumi Armada which has been focusing hard on projects in West Africa. BW Ceo Karl Arnet admitted late last month that they are "working on Etan" but declined to give any further details. Intecsea worked on the design for the gas export pipeline and the entire concept is being based on Eni's Abo field, for which BW is providing the FPSO.
