摘要

I RECENTLY sold some classic 1960s albums on eBay. Inside the cover of one I found a pencil sketch portrait of myself drawn by a schoolmate back in 1966. Jeff, as he was called, had no interest in pop music, but he had an amazing talent for art. I first noticed it when he called round for me one evening and rattled off a superbly detailed drawing of our fireplace complete with brass coal scuttle. He always carried a jotter and pencil and we were in awe of his ability to do amazingly lifelike sketches of us. And, if there was someone he didn't like, his caricatures of them were wickedly funny.
