It is well known that good surface preparation is essential for performing high quality internal and external pipe coating. Almost all internal pipe coating materials like a fusion bonded epoxy or a liquid epoxy require a surface finish up to a SA 2.5 or an even higher cleanliness level in accordance with ISO 8501-1. Bauhuis BV from Goor, the Netherlands has been producing automated blast stations for the internal and external blasting of steel line pipe over the last 45 years. The fully automated internal and external blast stations of Bauhuis are Installed worldwide and have a hydraulic (internal) or electrical (external) powered turbine for throwing a combination of abrasives shot and/or grit at high velocity (80 - 85 m/sec) against the inner or outer pipe wall. During internal blasting the pipe is being rotated at high speed.
