Eurasian Woodcock is a major game bird in France and Europe, as such its populations need to be monitored as closely as possible. In France a monitoring program run by the ONCFS has been in place since the 1 980s, ringing being a major part of it. Capture takes place at night, using headlights and a hand-held net. There are about 300 specialised ringers for this species. From 1984 to 2004 over 40 0000 Woodcock have been ringed, and over 7000 have been subsequently recovered. This data set brings information in various fields: overwin-tering number, site fidelity, migration phenology, highlighting a flux of Fenno-Scandinavian birds mostly towards northern France and a continental flux, essentially from Russia, towards the whole country. Survival rates are low 0,34 for immatures and 0,44 for adults indicating a possible threat to the species.Mots ties : Becasse des bois, Baguage, Migration, Hivernage, Survie.
