AkzoNobel Returns €uros 6.5 bn to Shareholders, After Specialty Chemicals Divestment

AkzoNobel (headquartered in Amsterdam) has just completed its first full-year as a "pure-play" paint company, following the disposal of its Specialty Chemicals business. (See also T1O2 Worldwide Update, Vol.26, no.l, pages 42-48). The€uros 10.1 billion sale of the Specialty Chemicals business to the Carlyle Group (a global alternative assets manager, headquartered in Washington DC) and the Government of Singapore Investment Corp (GIC, a sovereign wealth fund) was completed on 1 October 2018.
