Little let up in ongoing downward pressure has yet again forced European stainless steel base prices ?20/t lower for July ex-mill deliveries, and with further crumbling of around ?60/t seen in July alloy surcharges (AAF), effective mill sheet prices have come off by around ?80/t for deliveries this month. Sources say that base price should remain stable next month even if AAF softens, although in practice this is unlikely given barely existent demand and the volume of imported material available ex-stock from service centres.
