The environmental movement in golf has grown massively over the last 10 years or so. Rowan Rumball, STRI ecology consultant, discusses why so many of our golf clubs employing sound ecological and environmental best practice.The Golf Environment Awards are a vehicle where we can celebrate the conservation successes of individual golf courses. Each year golf clubs apply to demonstrate just how environmentally and ecologically friendly the sport of golf can be if appropriately managed. Golf is leading the field in this respect, especially when compared to other sports or major events. In January an awards ceremony is held at BTME where club staff can share tips and advice as well as win prestigious trophies and prizes.
