France unveils 'new agricultural model'

Presenting the plan in Maine-et-Loire, western France, Barnier said it "sets out a model which is economically productive and ecologically responsible, in line with the direction laid down by the European Union [CAP Health Check] in November". Based in part on the outcome of the national 'environmental summit' of 2007 and national forestry and agriculture conferences, it identifies five major challenges and outlines five ways of responding to them.
