Demand for carbon steel from Japan’s construction sector was forecast to edge up 0.1% year on year to 1.8 million mt in October and rise 9.1% from September, the latest survey by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism showed. Sections demand was forecast to rise 6.5% on year and 9.8% from September to 450,000 mt and small bars demand to fall 1.9% on year but rise 8.8% on month to 620,000 mt, the survey showed.
