Southeast Asian billet prices increased through Friday for a fourth week, reaching a 2-month high since September 6, as traders lifted offers along with active purchases from China and regional buyers cleaning up cheap resources. S&P Global Platts assessed 5SP 130 mm billet at $410-$412/mt CFR Southeast Asia Friday, with a midpoint of $411/mt, up $3/mt from a week earlier. Asian rebar prices was steady on Friday, unchanged for the last four trading session, on stable offers in Hong Kong and Singapore. Platts assessed 16-20 mm diameter BS500 rebar at $423/mt FOB China actual weight Friday, unchanged day on day. Turkish rebar exporters are reporting slow progress in getting their price increases through in the market, sources said. Platts’ daily rebar assessment was $420/mt FOB Turkey Friday, up $2.50/mt day on day. In total, Turkish export rebar prices recovered $20/mt over the last four weeks.
