摘要

The present study was conducted to find out effect of lime (concentration of lime suspension) and soaking periods on digestible organic matter and dry matter yield.For this experiment 0.5 kg straw was taken and volume of solution was 9 litre. There were six concentrations of lime suspension (0,0.5,1.0,1.5,2.0 and 2.5%) and 5 soaking periods (0,1,2,3 and 4 days). The digestible organic matter yield and digestible dry matter yield were highest at 2.5% concentration of lime but the values obtained at 2.5% concentration of Lime suspensions did not differ significantly from those obtained at 2.0% concentrations. Takingcalcium content of treated straw, into consideration it is concluded that 1.5%lime suspension used @ 18 litre/kg straw dry matter is the best treatment combination for obtaining maximum dry matter and organic matter digestibility.
