Simulation of the monitoring of automatic generation control of electric power systems under conditions of electricity market

Restructurization of electric power systems has been a subject of extensive studies during the last years. It means introduction of electricity market through open access to transmission networks, unbundling of services (generation, transmission, distribution and ancillary) and competition procurement. The automatic generation control (AGC) has a significant role in restructured systems ensuring realisation of electricity trading contracts. It is one of the ancillary services, and it is of great importance in real time electricity market. The AGC processes in the international electricity market have been investigated. The methods of modelling and simulation have been used. The cases oriented to solving the problems arising in the restructured Lithuanian power system are analysed.
