Nine years ago, when they were newly married, Abbey and John Lang would imagine themselves living in the house next door. "We knew it was the home we wanted, long before we owned it," Abbey recalls. "It was a beautiful old villa with lots of potentialand was on a full site. We already loved the area."Their house at the time was on a subdivided site and would never have the space for the family abode they envisaged for their future. Once they got to know their neighbours, they mentioned adesire to buy the 100-year-old villa if it were ever sold. That time eventually came and, true to their plan, the Langs bought the house. They began landscaping the garden, and painted over the dingy cream walls and purple wardrobe doors.
