Past, Present, and Future of the ANS Standard on Administrative Control and Quality Assurance

Preparation of a proposed new standard on administrative controls and quality assurance for the operational phase was initiated in 1969 by the American Nuclear Society (ANS) beginning what is now close to a half-century of maintenance of the initial issuance—ANSI N18.7-1972，"Administrative Controls and Quality Assurance for the Operational Phase of Nuclear Power Plants." This first edition was endorsed as draft 8 of ANS-3.2 in 1972 by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission [predecessor to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)] in Safety Guide 33，now Regulatory Guide (RG) 1.33, "Quality Assurance Program Requirements." The subsequent revision, ANSI N18.7-1976’ was endorsed in RG 1.33，Rev. 2 (February 1978).
