Activity Slowing Down in Oklahoma's Gas-Rich Scoop,Stack Plays

The gas and oil producers in the struggling Scoop and Stack plays in Oklahoma were buoyed by some better well results,but concerns continue to swirl around the long-term economics of the area and the financial health of some of the smaller companies working it. Success in the play-which produces a mix of oil,dry gas,and natural gas liquids-helped boost Oklahoma's average gas production by more than 1 billion cubic feet per day between February 2018 and February 2019 to more than 8.5 Bcf/d,according to the latest figures from the US Energy MormationAdministration(NGWJan.l4'19).But it seems doubtful that the Scoop and Stack plays will propel Oklahoma to similar gains in gas production in 2019,as many operators have slowed activity.
