Almost 55 years ago, Lennon and McCartney penned the lyrics, "...But tomorrow may rain, so I'll follow the sun." Serious investors are following the sun and wind these days. In a dry but comprehensive analysis completed this past November, interna-tional investment bank Lazard found that the consumption of alternative energy will be increasingly prevalent. The drivers are the environmental and social consequences of various conventional generation technologies (read: fossil fuel), carbon regulations, and more favorable cost comparisons as underlying technologies improve and production volumes soar. Government subsidies will continue to play a role.
