This study focused on informal carers of patients with a life limiting illness. Informal carers face many challenges, when caring for patients with palliative care needs, which have an impact on them. Finding suitable measures for determining the outcome of caring on informal carers has been a difficulty.The aim of the study was to identify reliable outcome measures used for informal carers looking after patients with palliative care needs, and to evaluate the psychometric properties of these measures.The chosen method for this study was to carry out a systemic review of existing literature to identify possible measures. The existing studies identified were evaluated by independent reviewers and data regarding study characteristics and psychometric properties of the measures used were extracted and evaluated. Good psychometric properties indicate a high-quality measure.
