Egypt's clay potential

EGYPT HAS LARGE reserves of ceramic raw materials, such as kaolin, ball clay, feldspar, and nepheline syenite. However, these ores are of low grade so that they need beneficiation before their application in the domestic ceramic industry, which at present imports significant volumes of their needs. Beneficiation of such raw ores, from different localities both on bench and pilot plant scale at the Central Metallurgical Research and Development Institute (CMRDI), has indicated their technical and economical viability, especially in the current climate of investment. This article focuses on ceramic clays' potential of Egypt.
