Prices for titanium dioxide (TiO2) declined gradually during 2018, particularly in China, where large-capacity investments over the past few years have added weight to supply against flat demand. Some companies, including US-based Venator, attempted to introduce price increases in the second half of the year, in an effort to counter lower prices coming from China. Meanwhile, zircon prices performed strongly, due to tight supplies and robust demand from ceramics and other end markets.
