There are reasons to believe that 2016 was a relatively better year compared to many years of the recent past. On the one hand, India's overall production went up; on the other, prices also showed improvements; auctions posted higher overall earnings. So, although there was rise in production cost, most factors were encouraging for the tea industry and trade.
