Knowing the best techniques for healthy animals is important for all animal technicians, especially when it comes to feeding. Therefore, UCL continued to explore a trial, published in Animal Technology and Welfare, which examined four commercially available feeds (Figure 1) and the ways they affected University College London (UCL) AB Zebrafish {Danio rerio).1The previous trial used a feed which caused deformities, commonly in the skull and caudal vertebrae; due to this, the use of the feed was terminated. Specimens from fish fed this feed were fixed for bone staining for further study in order to understandthe nature of the deformities.
