Ford develops driverless research vehicle

In December 2013, Ford Motor Co. unveiled a Fusion hybrid automated research vehicle, developed in conjunction with the University of Michigan and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co., which will be used to develop future automated driving technologies. The research vehicle is the result of an ongoing project to test sensing systems and driver-assist technologies, including the Blind Spot Information System, active park assist, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support, with the goal being to apply these technologies to Ford's next generation of vehicles, according to the automaker.
