摘要

The GNS Science Hydrogeology Department at Wairakei has been a busy place over summer with several new appointments, visitors and training sessions. Student Daniel Lower from the University of Canterbury, Department of Engineering worked on a range of IT and computing tasks during his summer internship. Alex Kmoch from the Paris-Lodron University in Salzburg arrived in December, and has been busy developing a web map service for harmonised groundwater information for the SMART project. In January, Abigail Lovett accepted a full-time permanent position as a Groundwater Scientist after recently graduating from the University of Otago. Recently the team welcomed Franziska Donath, a student intern from Georg-August-University, Gottingen, Germany who will primarily be assisting in the distributed temperature sensing for groundwater-surface water interactions component of the SMART project.
