Flood forecasting

Hydro Tasmania (recently re-badged as Entura) has been working with Horizons over the last six years, developing rainfall/runoff models for all of the region's major catchments, as well as several smaller catchments that have significant flood related problems. These models utilise actual flows, rainfall and forecast at point hourly rainfall data (for the next 48 hours) supplied by MetService. This work is now completed and all models run every 30 minutes, 24/7. Many of these modelled outputs are available to the public via the Rivers and Rainfall section of Horizons website (www.horizons.govt.nz).
