摘要

"Children are great ambassadors for change—what they learn about health andhygiene at school they take home to share with the rest of the family," says YannyGuman, Oxfam Programme Coordinator in Papua New Guinea. This understanding has been integral to Oxfam New Zealand's ongoing work withHighlands-based partner ATprojects on sanitation for schools. Over the last eightyears, 45 primary schools have implemented clean water supplies and safesanitation systems, significantly reducing the number of children affected by hookworms—an intestinal worm that causes diarrhoea and can hinder children's growthand development.
