Tharisa still shipping South African chrome concs to China

London—Tharisa has not had any of its South African chrome concentrate shipments canceled or turned back from China because of the coronavirus outbreak, the platinum group metals and chrome miner said Wednesday. “But it would be amiss to say that pricing, which was starting to recover, albeit much slower than we had anticipated, continues to be under renewed pressure,” Ilja Graulich, Cyprus-based Tharisa's head of investor relations and communications, told S&P Global Platts in an interview. “The screen prices on public terminals are a good reflection of the pressure the chrome price is under.” Chrome ore spot prices dropped below $130/mt last Friday.
