Vale, CDP to work with suppliers on 3-year emissions reduction project

London—Brazil’s Vale and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) have set up a three-year partnership to encourage company suppliers to measure, report and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, the miner reported Nov. 3. The project will evaluate the responses of 274 suppliers from around 500 classified as critical in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, corresponding to around 30% of the miner's global purchasing. Steel sector consumers and shipping suppliers are not being included in this group, Vale said.
