US spot metallurgical coal prices increase

London—Atlantic Basin metallurgical coal prices Tuesday saw a continued run-up in Asia-Pacific market pricing and futures, adding support to new offers. Stronger seaborne prices and reassessed pricing options for non- Australian coals helped narrow discounts for spot US export prices against domestic North American contract prices seen in the past month. A buyer was yet to return to the market but believed discounts to index for US highvols would continue, and saw no changes to implied offers and terms for coals loaded out of the East Coast.
