Northern European August ferrous scrap contracts firm on stronger steel demand

London—Ferrous scrap prices in northern Europe were heard to be higher month on month for August settlement amid stronger finished steel demand, market participants said Aug. 10. S&P Global Platts assessed Northern Europe domestic shredded scrap at Eur225-230/mt ($264-270/mt) delivered for August, up from Eur215-220/mt delivered in July. “The steel market looks better. The shredded price in Germany delivered to the mill is now between Eur220/mt and Eur235/mt, depending on the region,” one Northern European recycler said.
