The Capesize market in the Pacific region saw lesser activity Friday — due to public holidays in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China — than that in the Atlantic region where a flurry of overnight fixtures was observed at slightly higher levels. According to a shipbroker source, the higher rates were because of the conclusion of tender cargoes and thin tonnage in the Atlantic region. Another shipbroker source from the Atlantic region lamented the lack of fresh, spot cargoes from Brazil and continued to expect a slow pace for April.
