Taiwan's Aug ferrous scrap imports fall 17% on month

Taiwan imported 309,165 mt of ferrous scrap in August, down 17% on the month, and up 36% year on year, according to finance ministry data Tuesday. The largest supplier in August remained the US, at 125,294 mt, down 24% from July, followed by Japan at 85,191 mt, up marginally by 0.8% on the month, and Canada, up 34% at 19,645 mt. Hong Kong -- Taiwan’s third largest supplier this year -- saw a 67% drop for August at 10,794 mt.
