US independent Hess has sold its undeveloped 2 trillion cubic feet Equus gas project offshore West Australia to local player Western Gas for an undisclosed sum. Privately owned Western Gas plans to develop the project as a new source of gas supply for the local domestic market, which is expected to face a shortfall by 2021, it said. The scheme has independently certified resources of 2 Tcf of gas and 42 million barrels of condensate.
