Japanese Utility Backs FLNG Study

Japanese power utility Kyushu Electric and Perth-based firm Transborder Energy have agreed to conduct a joint study to develop a floating LNG (FLNG) solution to monetize stranded offshore gas resources. The companies will conduct technical pre-front-end engineering and design work with TechnipFMC and Add Energy and negotiate commercial terms for an FLNG solution by the end of this year. They aim to bring the project on line by mid-2026.
