China's coal production rose in October as the government sought to ensure supplies did not fall during a key political meeting in Beijing. Output totalled 283.54mn t in October, up by 1.5pc from a year earlier, the national bureau of statistics said. Production has now risen on a year-on-year basis for eight consecutive months. Total output during January-October was 2.83bn t, up by 4.8pc on the year.
