摘要

It is well known that sulfide inclusions in steel are formed with various kinds of morphologies in three-dimension (3D), such as globular, rod-like and polygonal shape. Furthermore, sulfide inclusions are easily elongated during rolling of steel due to their soft plasticity, especially at high temperature. It is considered to be difficult to investigate precisely the actual size of various shapes of inclusions with two-dimensional (2D) observations on a metal cross section. In order to understand the effect of morphology on the size measurement, the largest size sulfide inclusions with various shapes in steel samples has been studied by using statistics of extreme values with 2D and 3D observations.
