摘要

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounts for over 75% of all cases of primary liver cancer in the world. It has predominantly affected persons in developing countries. In the United States, the incidence has traditionally reflected racial, ethnic, and regional variations. However, the incidence and mortality rates of HCC have been rising over the past two decades in the United States and western Europe. This increase has been positively associated with the increase in chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in these areas. This article discusses the epidemiology of HCC in the setting of HCV infection.
