East Asian Scrap Import Market on Lulled Upswing

There are signs of the ferrous scrap import market on a lulled upswing in East Asia with regard to deepsea bulk cargoes. Negotiations on new deals have made no definite progress as to ferrous scrap imports into South Korea from the USA since mid-November when two South Korean steelmakers secured a total of five US cargoes. As of Nov 30, though, the market level of deepsea bulk cargoes declined by US$5/MT or so from the latest Korean purchase prices at US$409-410/MT C&F for No1 HMS, believe many of market sources.
