Private hospitals to produce care quality reports

Private hospitals will be expected to publish annual quality reports, similar to those produced by NHS hospitals, according to David Nicholson, NHS chief executive. The initiative will allow the standard of care provided by private hospitals to be directly compared with that in NHS health institutions. It will also provide an insight into the number of patients who receive private healthcare, or who receive NHS-funded healthcare that has been commissioned to a private healthcare provider.
