In their Seminar, Ambady Rama-chandran and colleagues (Jan 30, p 408)1 discuss type 2 diabetes in Asian countries. In addition to the points raised, we consider that any discussion of the epidemic of diabetes in Asia should mention the effect of smoking on the risk of diabetes.
