The DART Trial Team (Jan 9, p 123)1 compares quarterly laboratory and clinical monitoring of patients on antiretroviral therapy (ART) with clinically driven monitoring and conclude that routine laboratory testing for toxic effects has no benefit. This conclusion has caused debate about the value of laboratory tests in countries struggling with limited resources.
