摘要

The authors have explored 2 important questions. Have legislatively based certificate of need measures influenced the rate of adoption of robotic surgical platforms for radical prostatectomy? And has the stringency of certificate of need legislation curtailed the rate of use of robotic prostatectomy among those regions that have adopted the robot? The data suggest that certificate of need legislation has not limited adoption of the robotic platform within those SEER Health Service Areas that were evaluated. However, interestingly, certificate of need legislation was associated with reduced use of robotic prostatectomy in those HSAs with the most stringent legislation.
