The authors present a retrospective study on the impact of surgical margins on mortality following radical prostatectomy, demonstrating the significance of surgical margin status in the PSA era. The advantages of this report include the relatively long followup of more than 8 years, and the presentation of cancer specific and overall survival. Most often only BCR is given which does not always translate into clinical progression. They found no independent association with systemic progression, CSS and overall survival on multivariate analysis.
