From his operation in West Texas, Kendall Devault keeps one eye on the innovations that will change cotton production. SPEND ANY amount of time talking with Kendall Devault, and you'll realize you're talking with someone who has found his calling. Like most cotton producers across the Cotton Belt, he can't give a short answer when asked where, exactly, he farms. This year his family planted roughly 3,500 acres of cotton, spread out in the far west reaches of Texas. When pressed, he mentions Parmer County and Farwell, TX, as home base for his operation, although on a crisp September morning he can be found in a Bayer Crop-Science test plot on his land in Curry County, New Mexico.
