A Schulman to acquire thermoplastic compounds maker Citadel Plastics for $800m

US-based A Schulman has agreed to acquire speciality engineered plastics producer Citadel Plastics Holdings for $800m. A portfolio company of private equity firms HGGC and Charlesbank Capital Partners, Citadel produces thermoset composites and thermoplastic compounds for applications in transportation, industrial and construction, consumer, electrical, energy and healthcare and safety segments. The company operates 21 manufacturing facilities worldwide and has a workforce of 1,200.
