India's crude throughput jumps to a record

Crude throughput in India jumped 4.8% year on year to a record 20.62 million mt, or 4.87 million b/d, in January as state-owned and private refiners stepped up run rates to meet a surge in demand for oil products both at home and overseas. With domestic consumption of oil products surging 12.7% year on year in January to 15.71 million mt, and exports rising 8.8% year on year to 5.62 million mt in the same period, refiners took advantage of lower crude oil prices to boost their throughput.
