Brazil approves PetroRio purchase of Polvo Field stake

Rio de Janeiro—Brazil’s National Petroleum Agency, or ANP, has approved independent oil producer PetroRio’s purchase of a 40% stake in the offshore Polvo Field from Maersk Energia, PetroRio said Friday. The long-awaited approval will give PetroRio 100% of Polvo, which produced 8,421 b/d of oil equivalent in October, and clears the way for the company to start workovers of existing wells that are expected to boost production by 30%.
