New York-US crude stocks fell last week, dropping 2.19 million barrels to 484.84 million barrels, easing storage capacity utilization, US Energy Information Administration data showed Wednesday. US stocks were at 77% of shell capacity the week ending May 8, unchanged on the week, but down from 78% the week ending April 24. Still, that was up from 60% at the beginning of the year, when stocks were at 382.4 million barrels. Adjusting capacity to reflect crude in pipe- line transit puts US inventories at 64% of shell capacity, and 76% of working.
