ONGC steps up efforts on KG basin block

Mumbai—India’s state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp. has stepped up efforts to bring onstream its deepwater KG-DWN-98/2 block located offshore eastern India and now aims to bring it to production by mid-2018—18 years after it won the block in India’s first New Exploration Licensing Policy round in 2000. ONGC’s executive committee recently visited Kakinada and has drawn up a plan to submit a development plan to upstream regulator Directorate General of Hydrocarbons by end 2014 with the aim to start production by mid- 2018, D.K. Sarraf, who took over as ONGC’s chairman and managing director in March this year, and T.K. Sengupta who was made director for ONGC’s offshore operations in February, told reporters in Mumbai on Saturday.
