India mulls doubling of Iran crude imports

Mumbai-India would like to boost its imports of Iranian crude to 21 million mt, the quantity it had been taking a few years ago before sanctions on Tehran forced volumes down to 11 million mt in the current financial year, oil secretary Vive Rae has been quoted as saying. "We were importing 21 [million mt] of oil from Iran ... If the sanctions get resolved, we can go back to 21 [million mt]," Rae said on the sidelines of an energy security confer- ence, quoted by the Hindu Business Line.
